iDVD open DVD-R

Apr 22, 2009 1:20PM PDT

I want to create an open DVD-R on my iMAC running iDVD '09. I have the duo core, 2 gig RAM, Leopard iMAC. I want to record an intro, then move the DVD to a SONY burner and record a live session, then return the DVD to the iMAC and burn a closing and then close the DVD as a master for duplication. Is this possible with iDVD?

I'm going with no.

Almost all dvd recorders use one or another form of UDF (see google) and as that is what it is there is no assurance this will work. In fact, did you try this? (I bet it failed hard.)

Make a new plan. That is, record your contetn with the Sony then bring all your content back to the computer for what most of us will call "post" or "post production."

Agreed

iDVD will only produce the finished DVD for you, no sessions.

As Bob suggested, bring all the video into iMovie, or the like, edit it, and send it to iDVD for DVD production.

To Bob: I didn't try the method because of clever people like you the other iMac expert, who have the answers and are willing to share thus saving an unfrutful effort. I thank you both and will take your advice to do a classical field shoot and a post production process, which I am familiar with. Check my website at www.holtonsys.4t.com for my background. I was just trying to compress the process for quick turn around and was not familiar with my new iMac. Thanks again.
