I have a Dell Precision 390 running Windows xp with service pack 3, the problem i am having is that i have no audio on the machine. The strange part is that i had sound for about a year and a half then it just dissappeared one day, then i backed my self into figuring it out somehow, thought the problem was fixed then 2 months later no sound again, again backed my self into fixing it. Now it stopped working after a week, again fixed it but now it only lasted a week, sound was here on friday, went to hershey for the weekend and now come monday sound has dissappeared once again. i spent a long time on this yesterday and i cant figure it out. Heres the problem....according to the computer specs that came with the machine, the Dell website, and various other websites explaining the internals of my computer, i am supposed to have a sigmatel high definition audio codec,, so i went to dell typed in my service tag and downloaded the driver and it didn't work instead my found hardware wizard finds an IDT high definition audio codec, so i tried hunting for one i found one but it caused major problems i got a virus(its been taken care of) so im at a loss as to what to do. it would be greatly appreciated if someone could lend me a hand, i work from home on this machine and i frequently use this machine for conference calls, i had to use the neighbors yesterday, and i cant keep doing that. Thank you for your help it is needed and appriciated
