IDE to SATA converter

I bought a Sony Optiarc dvd burner.Its SATA and My previous burner was IDE.I bought a converter but my computer doesn't recognise the burner...I have an older DELL. What can I do...thanx Jimmahbee

You will have this issue with older machines,
your best bet is to buy either an IDE internal drive, or buy the external SATA to USB connector and use the drive externally.
