General discussion

ide hard drive to sata motherboard

Apr 5, 2007 10:15AM PDT

My old computer crashed & I just purchased a Dell XPS 410 that does not have any ide interfaces. I need to get the data from the original ide drive & would then like to setup the 2nd ide hard drive I had for additional storage. Researching this it seems that I have a few choices:

-ide to sata adapter
-pci ide controller card
-external box & USB setup

What is the best setup - pros/cons of each?

Thanks

Doug

An external USB enclosure. I've used the sub 20 to about 50 buck models.
