2. In all cases where the drive is not detected the next stop are recovery houses like http://www.drivesavers.com
But let's hope this is not another story about no backup.
I have a 160Gb IDE Hard Disk installed on my computer which I have been using for a long time. My OS is installed on another Hard Disk(SATA).
A person who had come to install OS XP on IDE HDD did the following when OS installation stopped midway & computer stopped responding:
1. Restarted the computer using the Restart button of Cabinet
2. Cancelled the scan disk at bootup which was about to scan that drive of IDE HDD where he was attempting to install the OS.
The IDE HDD was working properly before that time. Then it started giving errors when accessing data. Now the hard disk is not getting detected in BIOS Setup nor in Windows. During boot up I see the following on first screen that comes up(DOS):
Auto Detecting SATA Channel 1 - IDE Hard Disk
Auto Detecting SATA Channel 4 - ATAPI CDROM
SATA Channel 1 - ST2160215AS (THIS IS THE SATA HARD DISK ON WHICH MY OS IS INSTALLED)
SATA Channel 4 - MOSER BAER (THIS IS MY DVD RW)
How can I recover data from the IDE HDD?
