Question

ID3 auto tagging for unknown audio files

May 31, 2017 7:26AM PDT

I have quite a lot of audio files without any metadata. For mp3 albums for me is best mp3tag or tag&rename. They unfortutately doesn't work with these mp3s. Is there anything to add id3 to unknown files or to your own compilations? Winamp, who is already out, was quite good for that at the time.
Thanks for any advice
Peter

It turns out the file was a MP3 in NAME ONLY. EXAMPLE!!!

If you take a Wave file (.wav) and rename it to .MP3 many players will play the file so to fix this you need to convert it to a real MP3 file. There are some hundred ways to do this so I won't tell you how.

Nod to VLC Player and other tools to identify what the real file format is.
