ICS vs Router

I have two PCs running Windows XP Home. Hopefully I shall soon have ADSL at home and be able to use a router to network them. However, currently I have dial-up on one PC and ICS to the other via ethernet.

Is it possible to network the computers using the router and share the dial-up connection? My impression is that the two are incompatible.

Any help would be appreciated.

If you can turn off the routers.....

DHCP functionality, so it acts solely as a switch, then ICS can be used. Both do not coexist peaceably.
