OK Guys & Gals, this is the score with trying to install ICS on your computer with your 98SE disc.
When you go to Control Panel/Add or Remove Programs/(TAB) Windows Setup /(HIGHLIGHT) Internet Tools/Details/(CHECK BOX) Internet Connection Sharing/Have Disc/
This is where your problem can start.
All the required files are set up in CABS.
The first file that the Install Wizard will look for is ICS.INF.
The problem is that it is in a Hidden Folder on your hard drive.
The Wizard will not show it when browsing.
Go To: Settings/Folder Options/(TAB) View/(CHECK BOX) Show all files.
Go To: Hard Drive/Windows/INF and select ICS.INF, copy and paste this to say My Docs.
This file will tell the Install Wizard, which CAB files it, is trying to locate. It will then extract the required files.
Rather than use the CD for the next files, I pointed the browser to C: (where C is your OS Drive)/CABS.
From here the wizard found all the files.
There was no need to use the disc as all the files are already on your computer. It just did not know where to look. REMEMBER THE KEY FILE IS --- ?ICS.INF?
I hope this helps others, as the best suggestion I got was to go out and buy another 98SE disc. If I had I would have had the same problem, as I did try other peoples 98SE discs and none of them worked. Incidentally not all 98SE discs are set up the same. So when you use the ICS.INF file it would be advisable to make sure it is from the same Disc. That is why I suggest using your Hard Drive, as the files would have been installed there on initial install.
Having done all the above your torment is not over.
It knocked out my Network, so when I find a solution to that problem I will let you know.
Here are some articles I found useful:

So with My Host on 98SE, Client 1 on ME & Client 2 on XP I know my problems are just beginning. Would welcome suggestions. I am using a 5 way Ethernet Switch by NEWLINK & my Internet Connection is through a Cable Modem (NTL).
