ICQ problem

by Pcfreakske2000 / September 15, 2006 7:19 AM PDT

Hi all,

I use Trillian ( http://www.ceruleanstudios.com/ ) and I was able to connect MSN in the accounts.

I used to have an ICQ account a long , long , long time ago. I try to get a new password from the site and it doesn't work ...

I even tried to register a new account ( with the same nickname , though ) , but it didn't work ...

Anyone know a solution ?

Anyone know how to contact ICQ crew about this problem ? ( not the site thing , it doesn't work ) ...

Thank you.

Greetings ,

What exactly happens?

You said that trying to recover your old password and recreating your old account don't work, but didn't mention what exactly the problem was...can you not access parts of their site, does it display an error message, does the e-mail just never arrive, etc? Based on what you've said so far I'd say this is a browser issue, but additional details would be helpful.

Well, I'll explain it further

Hi all,

Well, I want to set up ICQ in Trillian , but I don't know what e-mail address that I put up in my ICQ details.
I tried recovering it through the website , but that didn't help.

I tried to re-register , but that didn't work either.

Greetings ,

Well, the ICQ account is very old

Hi all,

Well, the ICQ account is very old , that's the problem.
Since I haven't used it in a long while , I don't remember what I put in my details.

It's been years since I used that account, that's the problem.

I want to use it again , within Trillian, but since I don't know my e-mail address or password anymore , it's hard to get it back up and running again.

Hi all,

I can tell you that I solved the problem.
The problem was with the e-mail address ( hotmail account ). I used that one once to get the old account.

Apparently , that didn't work to get the new account set up. I tried two or three times. That didn't work.

Then I tried one of my ISP e-mail addresses and it worked.

Now I can chat on 3 protocols ( MSN , ICQ and Yahoo! )
That's about enough to chat on , lol.

I don't use IRC or AIM , though ...

I want to thank everyone for their response.

Yeah... looks like you have enough.

Windows Live Messenger is about all I can manage or need. I use Messenger almost daily and never had a problem but be careful clicking on unknown or unverified links if you are unsure of the source.

All the best,

Meebo is a good alternative

I am using Meebo (meebo.com) for a year now and I want to share with you: it's a great tool, I really enjoy it. I can chat with ICQ, AIM, MSN, and even Gmail buddies. It's never down, always working nicely.

Downside is that you cannot send files from it, neither use Skype but besides that it's free and awesome, and kind of web 2.0 funky thing. FYI.

Hi all,

I switched back to Windows Live Messenger, because my girlfriend bought a webcam for me for New Year already. And, of course, she bought one for her as well.

Everything considered Windows Live Messenger does a pretty good job. If accepting files make sure you know who is sending them.

I have use MSN Messenger and now Windows Live Messenger for years without any problems whatsoever. Webcam works great! You will enjoy seeing your girlfriend. Grin
