Icons on task bar don't appear.

by sunlaker / February 5, 2011 10:40 PM PST

No matter how many times I reset the properties for my task bar
the icons I want to be visible never appear. They start to show up after about 5 restarts but disappear by the next morning.
Any ideas how to fix the problem.

sunlaker, I'm assuming you're using Windows XP and that the icons are the ones in the Notifiction Area aside of the clock. Go to the link below and scroll down to "Notification Area - Icons Disappearing" and you'll find some possible solutions.

Thanks I really have no idea what all this is. But does it mean my user file is corrupt so I should create another one? No matter how many time I reset the properties menus it does it's own thing. Even the Chevron is missing.

Sorry but the terms and names for such problems are going to tax most of us. I give no apology for the mess that this is.

But if you clicked the google link I supplied you find in the top 2 picks details about how Microsoft tells us to deal with this issue.

I have written too much about this problem and how there is no fix given which is amazing after a decade when the problem showed up.
