Is there a way to remove the little arrow from the icons on my Winxp desktop? Thank You for your help.

onecup, You can remove those shortcut arrows with TweakUI which is Free at the link below.
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx
If you download & install it you'll find it under Start/Programs/Powertoys for Windows XP/TweakUI
To remove the shortcut arrows look under the Explorer/Shortcuts section.

I had duly downloaded and installed Tweak UI but some time later had to reinstall my O/S. I downloaded and installed Tweak UI again but this time, for the life of me, I cannot locate where to remove those stupid arrows on the desktop icons. I read where you said to go to Explorer/Shortcuts. I don't have "Shortcuts" and I couldn't see anything appropriate under "Explorer".
Perhaps I'm blind. Perhaps it's too late at night. But I've gone through it 5 times now with no success. What the heck!?

When you open Tweakui you should see a list at the left side. On the list you should see Explorer. If you click the + mark beside it, you should then see Shortcut listed there. Click it and choose your preferred setting.
