In reply to: you will feel the healing

what is it they pray when they do a jihad? Allah Akbar? In the name of Allah, this would be like planting the flag on Iwo Jima! That say's it all They conquered! And that to me is what they mean by building a mosque there.

There's already a mosque there

It's only two blocks further away than the site in dispute and it's been there since long before 9/11/01.

The people who attacked us were sent from Afghanistan, not from Manhattan.

Afghanistan

In reply to: There's already a mosque there

No one from there lives in Manhattan? Anyway, it wasn't native Afghans involved.

Mohamed Atta, from Egypt, was the ringleader of the 19 hijackers and one of the pilots.[83] Atta died in the attack along with the other hijackers, but his luggage, which did not make the connection from his Portland flight onto Flight 11, contained papers that revealed the identities of all 19 hijackers and other important clues about their plans, motives, and backgrounds.[84] By midday, the National Security Agency had intercepted communications that pointed to Osama bin Laden, as did German intelligence agencies.[85][86]

On September 27, 2001, the FBI released photos of the 19 hijackers, along with information about the possible nationalities and aliases of many.[87] Fifteen of the hijackers were from Saudi Arabia, two from the United Arab Emirates, one from Egypt (Atta), and one from Lebanon.

None of the hijackers....

In reply to: Afghanistan

...and none of the people who sent them were from New York, and there's been no indication that anyone based in New York assisted them in any way. That's my point.

Here's the point that really matters.

then read the Islamic attitudes in various areas. Britain especially has a growing problem.

2001 Surveys

A Sunday Times survey taken in UK shortly after the 9/11 attack "revealed that 40% of British Muslims believe Osama bin Laden was right to attack the United States[citation needed], and about the same proportion think that British Muslims have a right to fight alongside the Taliban.

A radio station[which?] serving London's Pakistani community conducted a poll which 98% of London Muslims under 45 said they would not fight for Britain, while 48% said they would fight for bin Laden."

Now tell us what it has to do with the proposed center in lower Manhattan.

you probably were saying

In reply to: Interesting stuff

"why should we care what some group calling themselves Al Qaeda, living in far off Afghanistan, says about the USA"?

Or maybe you would have been like one of those native Americans centuries ago saying, "So what, it's just one European fort, what does that have to do with us?"

Or the Jews when they put a mosque on the former temple area. "Nothing's there anymore anyway, so maybe this will be a good thing. It's not like every Muslim will be associated with it".

And here I thought you had a mad on about ALL Muslims/Islamists.

Also nice to see you championing the side of the Native Americans

Nothing to say about the African Americans?

Hey guys, look at that huge canoe out there with the big sheets drying on it, let's go take a look!

I thought that was the Native Americans that checked them out...you know Manhattan Island...beads, blankets, influenza

When the ships came from Africa...they knew what/who was on the ships...there was no reason to "go take a look!" Unless they wanted first dibbs.

Nope

Guess you don't know what I was ''probably'' saying as well as you thought you did.

Where ever they came from...

In reply to: There's already a mosque there

Where ever they came from, they got flight training in Florida. At least now, we are monitoring who is getting training in such facilities.
I am implying nothing here, but in some places people can be trained for actions to hurt the U.S., but checking to monitor if such training is going on might be met with objection.
