I have Windows XP on my computer. I have an icon called Quick Time 6.3 on my taskbar. How can I get rid of this icon on my taskbar? Thank you very much.

In my post about Parasite removal programs (link in a second), STARTER is noted which is what I use to eject startup items. More about...

If one does encounter an issue, its always been damage done by the MALWARE. The most common issue being Layered Service Provider replacement which you can use LSPFIX (Hint: use http://www.google.com to find).

Do you mean the system tray? If so, you can remove it by going to the start menu, choosing run, then type "msconfig" into the box that opens and press ok. From there, click on the "startup" tab. This will give you a list of most of the programs that start with Windows. If you find one there that is called "qttask" or one that has the path to the quicktime folder (Paths listed under "Command") that you installed it under. If you find one of the above remove the checkmark in the box beside it. Then click close. It may ask you to restart the computer, which you may do now, or wait until later. When you restart, a window might pop up that says that the system configuration has been changed or something like that, and you can just click the "do not show again" check box, then click "ok" and all should be good. hope this helps.

To rystheguy: Thank you for your message. I did everything you said in the message and it worked. I don't have that miserable looking icon on my taskbar any more. Thanks again.
