iBook memory

Oct 19, 2005 5:19PM PDT

As I've watched the Activity Monitor whilst running Logic Express, it was startlingly clear that I ought to upgrade the memory in my iBook to increase the performance. It's a mid-2005 model with 512 MB of memory, which has been pretty good so far, but I was hoping to max out the memory capacity. However, Apple sells the 1GB module for $500. I was wondering if there are any similar quality modules for less money, as 500 is pretty steep for a 1 GB stick. I was also considering just getting the 512 MB stick to put my notebook at 1GB even (roughly). Would that probably be a better option, seeing as how the 512 costs considerably less?

can be found out there for less than $200.00 US... Unless you feel you have to buy from apple, then I concur with Peter. Crucial, many other brands or even a no-name brand that at least uses samsung memory modules. Check on newegg, tiger, or even pricewatch.

good luck
