IBM Thinkpad T21 New hard drive trouble

by sp0322 / January 27, 2009 8:05 AM PST

It won't let me install an operating system. I had the disc but it came to a message saying 'Operating system not found.' Anyone have a step by step process for me to install the operating system.

What are you booting from?
by Steven Haninger / January 27, 2009 9:05 AM PST

Are you trying to boot from an installation disk to reinstall a corrupt OS? If so, either the disk isn't bootable or the CD ROM drive is bad. More details will get better answers.

If trying to boot from a CD ROM device, make sure it's first in the boot priority list in your BIOS.

New HDD trouble
by brianleslie1 / January 11, 2010 6:37 AM PST

I removed my old hard drive and installed the OS(Kubuntu Linux) using an IDE laptop to PC adapter as my T21 didn't come with a CDROM; it saved a lot of time. I'm now on the look out for a new HDD as the old one is showing its age mechanically.
