IBM Thinkpad R-51 - Celeron M Processor?? What is Networking

Nov 7, 2004 7:31AM PST

Hi, I'm in the process of find the laptop computer as a first time buyer - I was about to settle for IBM R-51, then I found on the ibm website that it's processor is my dreadful Celeron M - not Pentium M like in the CNET's specs? Which is true?

Also, what is networking adapter? I have a LAN conneciton at home, is this something i need? I know a dumb question - but help!

A network adapter is a device that enables connection to a LAN. The R51 will already have a LAN port. What is nice is a wireless card installed in the notebook. This way you can connect at hotels, schools, libraries, etc. without wires.

I bought a wireless router for $20 after rebates and now I can use my notebook anywhere in the house without using cables.

Check the specs on the notebook. If it has 802.11 b or g then it has a wireless card built in. If not and you want to go wireless you will need an adapter to do so.
