Question

IAqualink 2.0 Wireless Control for Swimming Pool

Aug 26, 2015 12:29PM PDT

My Linksys router failed, so I purchase a new one WRT1200AC. I successfully set up the network and connected my iphones, ipads, Smart TVs, desktop computer, and Xboxes. I also added an external wireless device that connects me to the pool controls and allows me to use the IAqualink App on my IOS devices to control everything. The device shows up on my router page but will not connect to the internet. I successfully connected to my neighbor's network so it's not the range or the hardware. Since it is a router setting issue, does anyone know what might be stopping the connection? I have pinged it and it works. Also, not a firewall issue. Linksys, IAqualink, and Supportrix have tried to help, but failed. To set it up, you open up the panel to the antennae for the device and toggle the switch between wired and wireless. Then from an Iphone or ipad, you search for the Iaqualink network. Once selected, it takes you to the IAqualink setup web page. There you simply select the home network and enter in the password (case sensitive). In less than a minute, the device went online on my neighbor's network, but it has failed to connect to the web on my network about a hundred billion times. Help.

Answer
There is a new setting on many routers.

It's the firewall setting that does tend to block things like this. Yes you claim it's not a firewall so why not put this into the DMZ entry? And drop the router firewall.

There may be old gear that is not ready or won't connect to routers with the WPA+WPA2 mixed mode. Fix? use one or the other, whichever works. And of course try unsecured wifi to work out what this device doesn't like.

I did drop the ip4 firewall...don't know how to enter into the DMZ entry..The IP address of the device into the destination side? Tried that also. It erased the MAC address when I did that..good thing I made a screenshot of it...

Using WPA Personal

I am not using the mixed..should I try that...it's fairly new gear.

New or old

We have to go with changes to WiFi security until we determine what works. If I'm unsure of everything I start with no security, 802.11G (very important as some gear bombs on 802.11N routers even though it's supposed to be backwards compatible.)

WPA Personal connections will fail if the date and time are too far off. Your neighbor's WiFi details were not known to the discussion which unsecured doesn't care about date and time. WPA and WPA2 does.

It's a New Router from Linksys WRT1200AC

It has 5 selections for security.....and of course none

WEP
WPA2 Personal
WPA2Enterprise
WPA2/WPA Personal
WPA2/WPA Enterprise

Network is set on mixed but can change it to G mode only.

Do you recommend WEP? If I choose none, then my network will be insecure yes? Really appreciate the help.

At this point and not working.

It's time for a new router. You've tried all security, corrected the date and time and it's dead. The old router worked so it's time for another router. At least we tried.

The last thing I can think if is the channel the router is on. Try channel 1 or 3 and then we're done.
