iAntivirus. "Protect my Mac"

Dec 4, 2010 11:46PM PST

I can't change "Protect my Mac: OFF" to ON in the "Select an Action" window.
Pressing the area "Protect my Mac: OFF" doesn't change OFF to ON.
Anyone experiencing the same problem? I have tried with a fresh installation of
iAntivirus. Nothing helps. Can anyone give me a hint what to do?

Did you see the (recent) response to your post at the Spyware, Viruses & Security forum?

It may (or may not) help. Confused

Yes, Carol, I saw it and restarted in 32-bit mode. Everything runs OK! Thanks everyone!

there should be no need for your duplicate post to remain. I'm going to "do the honors" and remove it.

You're welcome, again.

Anti Virus on MacOS X?
Dec 18, 2010 4:27AM PST

Just delete the dam thing, you don't need it.
Antivirus on the Mac will only catch Windows viruses, which are just noise to the Mac.
Also your Mac will be slowed down by AV checking, as are Win PCs.

iAntivirus

Thanks Josh,

I take your advice and will remove it. The iAntivirus can be a nuisance with a window popping up
every now and then for no reasons at all as far I can understand. Let's go hunting for all iAntivirus files
and remove them..
A merry Christmas aqnd a Happy New Year to you and all the good CNET people.

Do you have proof
Dec 19, 2010 8:48AM PST

for slowdown, or is it just hearsay? iAniVirus scans relatively few files, so I don't see how it could cause any slowdown. Did not notice any problems on my computer.
