Question

Iambic Time Reporter licenses from 2005

Mar 12, 2015 12:57AM PDT

I run an old Iambic software call Time Reporter for my architecture business. It's simple and it still works great on all my computers. But, I only purchased 7 licenses back in the day. Now my business is growing and I need a few more licenses to give to new employees.

Is there anywhere to get more of these?

Yes, this is the company. We contacted them first and got this answer.

Thanks for contacting us. I'm sorry, but we no longer support the old iambic apps. Only the latest version of Agendus for Windows, Mac, iPhone and iPad are supported, and we cannot generate or access product keys for the older versions.

This seems like a bit of a flippant answer to me but I'm not sure what to do about it. It also appears they are transitioning to this new company name.

Thanks for any help or insight you can provide.

Jim

Sad to read but it happens.

About all you can do is to head to court to force them to issue more keys. It will take a good lawyer and you have to weigh that cost versus moving to a new system.

Even I drop support after a decade. And while I made it clear about that, I can be paid to do work on older apps. I've gone back as far as 2000 so far but if the company lost some key developer that had the knowledge, well it may be the only hope would be to find out who the players, coders were back then, track them down and see if they can do a deal.

But if this plays out like most, the person seeking this flames out, trashes everyone and burns it all to the ground. Sorry if that happens here.

Is there another system like it? Open source even?

Your news is sad, but helpful. Thank you!

Bob,
There are other programs available. They tend to be more expensive and cumbersome than what I need plus I have to get everyone use to a new system. We'll push on Iambic a little and see what they can do.
Thank you,
Jim
