phone is frozen/text messaging

i just downloaded a ringtone and then my phone froze. it wont even turn off. what should i do?
also when text messaging how do i get it to just let me type what i want instead of it guessing what word i am about to type?

hey, how u doin, i believe the phone its self maybe malfunctioning but the text message thing i know how to help that just go to the text menu and then go to creat message then go to options then take the T9 function off and switch it to just regular abc text. that should take care of it and the freezing i heard of before it sound to me like its a manufacturer(i cant spell) problem so call in on that my phone has only done it once and never again. let me know how it goes.
