Question

i7 7820X + Rampage VI extreme Problems

Oct 5, 2018 7:57AM PDT

Hello guys. I hope that here i can found someone who help me to solve all my problems. 5 weeks ago i built new high-end PC. Specs:
CPU: I7 7820x
Motherboar: Rampage VI extreme
GPU: EVGA 1080Ti FTW3
CPU Cooling: Corsair H115i Pro
RAM: Hyperx Predator 2x8 4000mhz RGB
SSD: 240gb 970EVO Samsung
HHD: 1TB WD gold
PSU: EVGA 1000W G3

So first time when i built it i put my old ram sticks with 2133mhz (without XMP option) and performance in some games was no stable. I changed it 3 days ago to Hyperx Predator and put XMP option on and to not overclock it on max i just put 3666mhz .. while 2-3 hours gaming (CS:GO) my computer got BSOD - whea uncorrectable error.. i don't know what is the problem.. my CPU temps was 50-55. I thinks its because i put XMP enabled.. I turned off XMP option yesterday after BSOD, because got scared to damage some components

Second problem is my CPU frequency is not stable.. it goes 1197-4000mhz every second on desktop.. i use CPU-Z program to recognize this problem. My windows power settings on High-Performance , also minimum processor state 100% too.

And final problem is my FPS performance is not stable in some games. I often plays CS:GO and my fps is jumps all time. 150-300,400... that's why i get some freezes.. Internet says that CS:GO loves high ghz on CPU.. and if my ghz is jumps from 1197-4000mhz every second i think that why i cant get stable FPS..

All my BIOS settings on default.. I want to fix all this problems and want to overclock my CPU to stable 4.2 GHZ .. if someone can help to fix all this problems i will be so happy. Also sorry for my bad English ( its not my main language ) . Thank you for attention!

I doubt I'll correct all your problems. That WHEA error has been traced to a few causes. The one I found interesting was the HDD source. The good news is that I've been able to run Speccy to check the HDD health and correct a few.

As to OVERCLOCKING, I do not support such efforts as you are out of spec on the machine and unsupportable. No tech I know that has more than a few years in this industry will give an owner any assurance that overclocked machines are stable.

ALL THAT ASIDE, if you can't read the Speccy results for the clues, share it here. Here's how.

Set your ram speed to 2666.....that's native speed for the cpu.

What is slim cleaner plus for?
Why do you need samsung driver updater?

Cpu speed will bounce around that's the result of C states and P states and turbo.

It's quite normal for fps to bounce around as scenes in the game change.

Since you have a 1080p monitor cap the fps at 75 or 100.

A Speccy reading.

1. The CPU Vcore is under 1V. My experience is when we see this the machines usually are in for lockup, BSOD and such issues. Our first check is to see if the BIOS is current (it sets this) and if the BIOS is current we'll push it just over 1.0V.

BIOS is out of date and "system stability" is noted.

Update that, reboot a few times and then a new speccy. If Vcore is still under 1.0V, adjust it up a little and retest.

2. SSD didn't report health which is odd but the HDD is in fine shape.

3. See if your GPU driver is up to date. I see the US version is just days old.

Final comment. To get "stable FPS" we have to go overkill on the GPU and then cap the framerate. Most gamers hate that so they just reduce game settings. Be sure to hit CSGO forums about this area as I can't cover all they do here.

Even so, the 1080 GPU on that monitor should be fine. You are on a 1080p monitor so you should see the usual 60+FPS except on busy areas. Since the monitor is that 240Hz you could see the usual FPS rates move around but anything over 60 is fine. You can't get 240Hz all the time given this GPU. The 1080 Ti can't get 60FPS on the usual UHD 4K monitor. You would need even more GPU power. That 240Hz monitor puts the power of the 1080 Ti to the test.

Thank you for reply. I play CS:GO on very low settings, there is no problem with GPU , because gpu usage while cs:go is only 30%. CS:GO loves CPU more than GPU .. for stable FPS cs go needs stable 4.0+ ghz... while my CPU ghz always drops between 3.2.-3-6 while cs:go ... on desktop its drop down to 1.198ghz- 4.0 ghz every second..

I think i have some big problems with BIOS settings and i need professional set up correct settings also for for overclocking up to stable 4.2ghz .

I understand that 1080Ti is monster for gaming but he still cant get more than 120 fps even at 1080p on new games. But in CS:GO i should get stable 300+ FPS.

That doesn't explain

Why the CSGO forums have so many complaints trying to eek out more FPS. Must be a game issue.

Not only that but humans can't see much about 100 anyhow.

Its not about CS:GO

Actually my main problems is PC . I can't do anything. I went to bios settings and did ''EZ-tune'' . Asus motherboards have utility like easy overclock. After this I reach 4.5ghz , but i cant launch any games now. I always get BSOD , first time i got BSOD - irql not less or equal ... second time i got BSOD - clock watchdog timeout.. i cant actually do anything to repair system.. ((

Did you try to remove all overclocking, and just run the normal default speed? Might help.

Actually i did overclock 10 mins ago. All problems like - not stable ghz, bsod: whea uncorrectable error was before overclock too, but now after overclock i cant event launch game. I always get BSOD because different problems ''irql not less or equal, clock watchdog timeout'' ... Actually this CPU from X series and motherboard calculated for overclock too.. this is one of the most expensive on amazon (650$) ... its strange that i get problems with overclock ( and without it).. its strange that i cant found the problem to solve it Sad

Overclocking is like that.

Not all machines can. As I noted I can't give support to overclocking. We go stock, get it all working first.

Games today should be fine with that CPU at stock clocks. You have a very nice rig but appear to be trying to break the FPS wall that we read on CSGO forums.
