How do you mean "control" and 'distant"?

Amyway, why not ask the maker of your HiFi-installation (or whatever you use to listen to music) if they have an iPhone app that can serve as remote for their device? Or do I understand you wrong?

Bluetooth and lossless do not equate.

One way to achieve what the OP has in mind (audio quality-wise) is to simply utilize the VLC Remote app ($3), Apple Airport Express (refurbished @ ~ $50), a mini-toslink to toslink (=digital optical) cable ($5). The VLC app would allow the OP to play back both lossless and lossy files. That would output the sound over the OP's (presumably, present) wireless home network to AV receiver via digital optical 'in' port in back. Done. Sounds much better than bluetooth, and has better range on a robust 'N' spec wifi network too. YMMV. The slight audio delay over wifi is more than tolerable IMHSNO.

Any AV receiver w/ digital optical in would suffice too.
