Resolved Question

I would like to buy a new computer who has Windows 7

Apr 26, 2015 8:16AM PDT

I would like to buy a new computer who has Windows 7 because I am so used to work with my old Office 97 and I can only download Office 97 on a computer which runs on Windows 7.

My 2 questions:

1) Are new computers which have Windows 7 installed still on the market? If yes, how can I find them?

2) Suppose they are not on the market anymore, can I buy a new computer with Windows 8.1, uninstall Windows 8.1 and install Windows 7? Can I buy Windows 7 software?

My present computer is extremely slow because the Microsoft Teredo Tuneling Adapter is apparently not working properly and if I bring the computer to a repair shop they will probably charge me more than I will have to pay for a new computer.

Therefore if you could help me with those 2 questions I would be very happy

Helmut

Well, there's Dell, used things but why?

I added Classic Shell to get back to a decent start menu and that cost me zip.

As to the Teredo, I've never heard of an issue with that. Tell more.

As to installing Windows 7, I fear that anyone that asks if they can may fail. Installing Windows has never been harder. On new PCs you have the UEFI settings, and then drivers and get this, APPS that must be installed to get it all working again. I've seen folk spend months spinning their wheels.

I will not even try anymore to buy a new computer and install Windows 7. But a new situation has developed. Last night I saw that the lights of my newly installed external hard drive blinked in a pattern as if the drive would be working all the time. I disconnected it from the computer and all of a sudden my computer works again normal. I hope it stays that way. But thank you for trying to help

Question 1: Doubtful. It's not allowed by Microsoft any more. So you would have to go refurbished or second hand.
Question 2a: Ask the maker (a) if they have all needed Windows 7 drivers for the machine, (2) how to circumvent UEFI issues when installing Windows 7.
Question 2b: yes, see http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_1/176-7993086-0431966?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=windows+7

But why not reinstall that adapter software (see http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/44768-63-reinstall-microsoft-teredo-tunneling-adapter)? It won't help if it's a hardware issue, of course.
And why not invest some time in mastering the ribbon in Word, Excel and Powerpoint in Office 2010?

Dell Windows 7 or HP Windows 7 and take your pick of their W7 machines.
