I wonder what happened to the CNET bandwidth meter?

Sep 19, 2006 12:17AM PDT

Yes lately my internet connection seems or is slower than usual (Nothing I can do about that) so I want to measure my connection, yeah I know there are many connection meters out there but I prefer CNET's one and thanks to the homepage changes I can't even find it, even in the search function so does anybody know where the CNET bandwidth meter is?

Thanks

Thanks for your help

Thanks I would have never thought of that, and since using Google to check everything I'll use a Google search instead of wasting server space making new threads.

I checked my internet speed and it turns out my speed is 150 kbits slower than normal, I'll think I'll give my ISP a good talking to about this.

But thanks anyway.

I should be more considerate to others who have slow dial up internet but even at my speed things are still slow even playing videos at CNET are a pain because I always has keep buffering.

We wanted broadband but did not know anything about speed, we always relying on the assumption that broadband meant ?FAST? well not necessarily, and the prices are a joke for low speed broadband which ISP's advertise on TV as being "SUPER FAST" and yet they even advertise dial up as being very cheap.

One statistic I read in early 2005 said that over 70 % of Aussies still had dial up!, so as far as I am concerned we have are going backwards. And most ISP's only offer broadband speed as high as 1.5 m/bits for about $100.00 AUS monthly, very lousy.

I understand what you are saying. Both cable and DSL are available here... cable is too expensive and DSL is about $33US monthly.

I am considering trying DSL but so far have been reluctant to loose the $10 monthly dialup Wink You may call me el cheapo... but my needs are simple so I tolerate it.

All the best!

I just checked mine
Sep 23, 2006 12:01PM PDT

and I didn't find it very accurate.

It said that mine was 525.4 kbps

Verizon's says 773.4 kbps

and the Westell router says

864 KBits/Sec by 160 KBits/Sec

I think it's closer to the Verizon's because when I download things, it a little lower than that.

I hope you'd find a better one to use.
