I want to save $ on cell service - Netzero hotspot & GV?

Hi all,

Here's the short version - I have an Iphone 4S. I have AT&T cell service. Want to save $$$. Thinking about getting the Netzero hotspot (currently $49.99 for the device and $19.99 per month for 2 GB of data). My thought is that I can just use the 2 GB hotspot and Google Voice to take care of all my calling and internet needs (not big into streaming or large downloads - I would be doing web surfing and calls).

I want to get rid of my AT&T and go strictly with the netzero hotspot at 2GB and Google Voice. The question is - will this work?

2GB goes pretty fast even on voice over ip.

My son is flipping from att to tmobile and that cuts his bill a lot. I am not a sales person but my advice is to change and try the lowest rate there. They don't cut you off if you hit the data limit but just slow down. My other son has the other smart phone on Virgin Mobile and today's rate is 35 a month with some limit on minutes but both of us never hit that limit in over 2 years.

Answer
You are limited to 4G though

Keep in mind that one drawback is, you are liimited to 4G w/ Netzero. There's no fallback to 3G like the other devices/services, AFAIK. In some areas the 4G network may not be robust enough yet for this to be viable per se. Or, inside your home/apt you might not have decent 4G service, so there's no fallback. Do your homework before diving in, that's for certain. Even casual web surfing on 4G is going to go through data, so be careful in that respect too.
