I want to make a slave monitor using a 12 or 15" touchscreen

by cocoa9494 / May 26, 2008 12:27 AM PDT

I have a Dell Dimension 4400 with 2GB ram, XP, 120GB HD. I want to build a slave monitor, WIFI wireless. The goal is to have a simple unit that I can put in a dropdown carriage located in my kitchen under the cabinet above the counter. I would like to be able to bring up a program on my desktop down the hall, turn on the slave unit located in the kitchen and with the touchscreen operate the program that I have on the desktop. (for instance.. an ebook of recipes in .exe format). To expand further, I would be able to remove the LCD which would have builtin wireless 801.2 and take it to my easy chair and read a ebook, or take it to my bed and read). The unit does not have to have email, internet, or sound. Just basic.

There are units like Ausus but cost to much. I would appreciate any suggestions. Thank you

Not only do you need the wifi, the display but SOMETHING to drive that display and do all the other stuff. If you look around you find there isn't much out there to utilize what you have short of a cheap PC.

Why not look at the EEEPC (see google) and see about using VNC on it?

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
