I want to become computer and network technician

Oct 22, 2013 6:11AM PDT

Hello everybody,
Im not sure if here is the right place to ask these type of questions or no.
I'm 33 years old and almost new to US (about 4 years) and planning to stay here in Los Angeles. I like everything about computers hardware and my previous job at my country was computers fixing, assembling and troubleshooting.
I have High school diploma but havent attend university, just took some ESL clases at Glendale Community College to learn English.
Im looking for 1 or 2 years program at school to get a certification of computer hardware and networking. Would you please answer my questions if you can? Which college or school do you recommend for these clases in LA area?
How many units should I take?
Do they have financial aid?
How is the market demand for this job in California? What is the average sallary?

While there is a pretty big market is helping folk deal with malware and such, the old desktop market where you would repair them is decimated by the problem that the low cost replacements can run less than a repair bill.

You answered which college so ask your counselor there for which classes but the repair business bears no resemblance to what it was just a few years ago.

You would think some outfirt in LA has promoted the services to become a tech of some sort. Why not google for such and see what hits come about. HOWEVER, don't fall for tech mills that do nothing other than provide grants in order to suck you in and reap your funds and provide little for it. I can't say how it works in your area but you can check the BBB rating and see is available. of course, some comm. college is bound to offer tech schooling and also ITT as another school. Just check schools in general and see what classes they provide.
