I want a new computer monitor....

Dec 30, 2009 12:22AM PST

I hope this is the right forum for this. I've recently had the itch to upgrade my monitor. I primarily do gaming on my computer, with of course web browsing and spreadsheet work too. I never really watch movies on my computer. I have a HDTV and surround sound in my family room for that. I currently have an older model Dell 24" LCD (2407 I think?). But I've been hungering for a 30" widescreen. My video card is the ATI Radeon 4890, so I shouldn't have any trouble driving pixels on a larger display. It seems that the latest trend are LED backlit monitors. But the largest I see are about the same size monitor I already have. Are there gaming ready 30" widescreen LED monitors in the near future? The only thing I've seen is a 4:3 Samsung offering that doesn't appeal to me. Are LED monitors REALLY worth it? I've read the purported advantages, but are they true? Anyone who owns one of these have some comments?
