I uninstalled Windows Defender Signatures, Help!

May 30, 2007 7:59AM PDT

I was exploring CCleaner(new to me), and I thought Windows Defender meant Microsoft Defender(which I used to have), therefore I uninstalled Windows Defender Signatures. I would like to know what will be the effect of doing this, and if I should need to get it back how do I do that. I know it's gone and not in the recycle bin. I do not have a windows XP disk, as the OS came with my Dell 2400 desktop computer. Thanks for your reply in advance, Tom.

I followed your instructions and got Windows Defender back. I still do not see Windows Defender Signatures when I use CCleaner to view my programs. Maybe the signatures are part of Windows Defender but it doesn't show up when I look at programs. Tom.

Well, Does Defender Update Correctly?

Visit the Windows Update site and if the Defender updates appear and then install correctly, then you should be fine.

Hope this helps.
