Open IE without it's Add-ons and test. If no freezing occurs, then you know there is a buggy add-on. You can then goto Tools > Manage Add-ons and try an elimination test.
To open IE without Add-ons, goto Start > All programs > Accessories > System tools > Internet Explorer, (No Add-ons).

When using IE8 browsing, the browser will freeze and the only way to get it going again is to open another browsing window. So I always have two or three windows open and click back and forth keeping the initial browsing window going. I have sort of learned how to deal with it but it is time to figure this out.
