Question

I tunes - take my tunes elsewhere

Aug 31, 2011 6:45AM PDT

Hi everyone

I've bought some films and music from i-tunes, as you do!

I seem to only be able to access them via i-tunes. However, I'd like them to be in the same folder as all my other music and movies, i.e. on my desktop, which would also allow me to view or listen to them on a different player like DivX, VLC, WMP, etc.

I'm using a Windows 7 PC.

These are my files, but at the moment it feels as though they're on loan from Apple!!

Please help
Tim

Same folder as others.

Hi Tim.

I don't use iTunes at all so I don't know much but I know Apple protects it's usage rights of its files, so that might be a reason.

In this folder, what are the file extensions of these films and music files from iTunes?

What happens when you attempt to play them in VLC?

There is no DRM on music from the iTunes store

When you download from the store, they go straight into iTunes and are consolidated in the Library.

Hi P

In the words of comedy great, Jim Bowen: that's super, smashing, great!

Thanks so much. It's usually the simplest answer that's best!!

Have a great day, and thanks to Mark too!

Is he still around? His Bullseye game show was, in his (approx) words, a load of rubbish! Happy

Yep, Jim is still alive and - presumably, after a recent stroke - NOT kicking!

Didn't know that.

I hope he is recovering well.
