Question

i think graphics card problem

Nov 13, 2011 3:32AM PST

Ok my sister has a Dell Inspiron 1545. (bought in about august 2010) It has developed a problem. When you turn it on, the screen goes white and then it fades and shows the 'windows did not shut down successfully message' but it is covered in white lines and is in mirror-writing. I think this is a problem with the graphics card but could someone please confirm this?

Answer
(NT) From the video, looks like a failed LCD.

(NT) Does it make a difference in the way the screen goes white?

(NT) Yes it does. And why I would swap the LCD if I could.

Fixed

It turned out the be the 'screen' (whichever part of the screen it was, I was never told). But the way the picture was mirrored, upside-down, AND covered in white lines made me think it was the graphics card.

At least it was fixed. A parting comment.

I think the last time I saw this failure the owner admitted they sat on the laptop.

Ouch.
