I shutdown 98 but at restart it auto runs scandisk

HI! Thanks for reading. I correctly shutdown 98 but at restart the O.S. displays that I have improperly shutdown and it runs (scandisk) to check drive for errors. THe computer is an IBM 98 Aptiva. MOdel 2153E2U.
I have just finished restoring the O.S. no other software is included.

There were patches to solve that issue in Windows Update.

You didn't tell if you installed all the lovely patches and drivers for your machine.
