Try the VLC Player. It doesn't need codecs.

Had a scattered, not lost, video file and downloaded MiniTool to try to recover it. Have what is supposed to be the recovered file but Windows Media Player won't open it, says it doesn't have the codex. Is this just telling me the recovery was unsuccessful?
It is supposed to be an AVI file. Are there some codex that go with the MiniTool program? MS says go out on the net to download optional codex for WMP but I don't know where to look. My guess is MiniTool added the scattered data to a complete video file on the same card. I didn't delete that file because I didn't want to mess up anything else. That would be OK if I could open it and edit out the existing good file.
