General discussion

I really need to vent!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Apr 24, 2010 2:35AM PDT

On Wednesday my Dell XPS 410 (Vista Home Premium OS) crashed. On Thursday I called the Dell XPS Specialized Care number, spoke with a really nice tech (from India) that spoke great English and when he told me I was going to have to reformat my hard drive I entered into a conversation with him about upgrading to Windows 7 and decided that was the way to go. I placed my order for the Windows 7 upgrade and requested "overnight" shipping. When I looked at the email the tech sent me it showed "Est. Delivery Date 4/26/2010", so I questioned that, as the date I was placing the order was the 22nd. He said that was just an estimate and it was "next day" and it was via FedEx and they deliver on Saturdays (24th) so I assumed I would receive shipment today (Sat. 24th)since I was charged $21.99 for the shipping. Well, I called FedEx today and my "next day/overnight" shipment will not arrive until Mon. the 26th!!!!!!!!!! Needless to say, I'm pulling my hair out as I type this!!!!! Is there anything that I can do about this???

Thanks, Pam

If it is needed that fast.

I go to what they call a "brick and mortar" store. Dell is not FedEx and FedEx is not Dell.

What kills some is next day may mean next business day. If you want to vent, go ahead but at 22 bucks more I wonder if a trip to a brick and mortar store would have been the same price but would have it in your hands in a hour.

Shipping

Overnight means that the shipping company will get it to you in one day. They can't control when Dell gets them the package. If an order is placed early in the day, you might get it the next day. I have several times (some from Dell). It also depends on where you are located. If you are not near a major airport, it could take longer. Most shipping companies load their trucks early in the morning and deliver all day. If you are far from the airport, they sometimes can not finish the route, and you may get it early the next business day. We are far from the airport, and we sometimes get packages the same day and sometimes the day after they are put in the truck. Did you track the package with FexEx? Sunday is not a delivery day

I would never pay for faster shipping from Dell. Normal delivery is usually very fast.
