Resolved Question

I-Pad?

Dec 8, 2011 10:17AM PST

My wife has an I-phone 4 and a great Windows laptop. She is now begging for an I-Pad. Me, having only seen the I-Pad on commecials, etc. have really no idea what she can do with an I-Pad that she can't do already with her I-Phone and / or laptop. What is so special about the I-Pad or similar devices?

An iPad . . .

is simply an iPhone/iPod on steroids. Larger screen, same apps, no phone. And it won't fit in a pocket.

I went through the same dilemma, and so did the wife. But after examination we kept our iPhones and Levono laptops.

I-Pad

Do y'all think it is more or less a waste of $400 or whatever the price is now then?

Another question, I have a Nokia Nuron and my contract with T-Mobile is going to be up very soon. I hate this phone. It is hard to type on and is hard to read the screen at times. I have never had an I-Phone but like my wifes. I see that I can get an I-Phone 3 for about $100 or so used. I know T-Mobile does not carry the I-Phone but they do have Android phones. I use my phone to talk on only 98% of the time. Other 2% I may send a short text. I probably would stay with T-Mobile because I have been with the for many years. Should I look into getting a used I-Phone 3 or look at the Android phones T-Mobile offers. Is there much difference between the I-Phone 3 and 4. Out here in the country where we live, I am told we can only connect at 3G speed

I used to have the iPhone 3G . . .

and about 8 months ago I upgraded to the 3GS for 49 bucks with AT&T. It is faster than the 3G and will accept the new OS5. I'm like you as far as usage. I do like the way it surfs and it has a nice keyboard. And I read. A lot. There is a free app called Stanza that allows any printed document or any e-book to be loaded and read. I can find books in any format, and with the Stanza PC utility I can download any book and upload it to the iPhone. And it will handle iTunes music. I have at least two Gig of Jimmy Buffett on it.

I've seen the other smart phones and I don't think they can touch the iPhone.

Thanks for the info. I am going to be looking at phones in about February . I am thinking I-phone as it looks like it is the best out there, especially for the money. Maybe I can find a deal on a 4 with AT&T when I get ready to do it. I love Jimmy Buffett too. I worked for his record label, at the time, (Island) about 15 years ago. He is a great guy to hang out with.

don't tell me that! He's my hero. I just missed him several years ago at his Margaritaville in Key West. I've been to several concerts here in Dallas. I've read all his books (didn't care for the last one) and have all his CDs.

I'm jealous!

I agree, he puts on a great show. Dallas is where I have seen him many times too

iPhone 3 versus iPhone 4

I have an iPhone 4, and really like the retina display. Characters can be very small and still readable.
