Factory restore "should" put it back to as delivered but sometimes it doesn't. No one but Toshiba may know and then only Brian in tier 3 support. That's why I try it and if it's not working I wipe the drive (notice I didn't format the drive?)
Funny Story! Trying to repair a Toshiba C655 Windows 7 Laptop. Prior posts detail the error
messages I was getting. Wasn't sure if Windows 7 went bad or if HD was dead. Could buy boot disc from Toshiba but not unless I was sure it would work. Last ditch effort was to use my Vista Disc from my old PC. it successfully installed Vista and now powers up ok. BUT... my problem is this: I have 30 days to use Vista until I need to activate it - which won't work cause it's still active in my old PC. i just wanted to confirm that the HD was still alive, and it looks like it is. What I need to do is perform a system check to ensure all works OK. Then I will purchase a Windows 7 Boot disc from Toshiba to repair the damaged Windows 7. Question 1: Do Boot discs fix such issues? 2. Should I remove Vista prior to doing this, and if so, how? HD shows a Windows folder (Vista?) and an Old Windows folder (7?). Can I just delete the Vista folder or is it more complicated than that? Thanks!
