I need your help

by Necor / May 3, 2007 4:01 AM PDT

I?m use for log time, Professional Windows XP sp2 with all updates. Two weeks ago, when I tried open a specific programs, where I have all my downloads programs, IE Windows Explorer or ACD See usually crashes, taking much of the system with it and showed me this error message:
explorer.exe version 6.0.2900.2180 error module: unknow version error direction: x2c6e726f
Product: Windows Operating System
ID: 1000
Source: Application Error
Version: 5.2
Message: Faulting application %1, version %2, faulting module %3, version %4, fault address 0x%5.

This happens as soon as the Search panel in my ?D? HD is displayed, before I've even typed in the search carpet or started the search.

Then over the next minute or so everything seems to restart and eventually the system is functioning again. If I try to search again it crashes.

This started happening a few weeks ago, but I can't relate it to anything that I did or installed. Prior to that it worked fine for several years. I regularly scan for viruses/malware/adware/spy and I do not believe that my PC is infected. There are no other obvious problems with my PC.

Given only what you wrote I'll toss up 2 ideas.

1. You may have never cleaned the heatsinks and fans in your desktop. Tell us about your yearly cleanings.

2. It's got some pest. Read the next link and try the tools we suggest at

NO ONE has ever escaped when they bring me a machine and I scan it with those tools. It's sad that I've yet to find a clean machine.

At your command I can delete this thread.

Why? Robot email harvesters scan forums like these to add such to email spam lists.

Feel free to create a new post to keep trying other stuff. I've subscribed so I'll see when you reply here.
