I need to replace my Laptop dvd writer!

by bosss81 / January 28, 2009 3:53 AM PST

I have a 17" voodoo envy M570U laptop, and im looking to replace my dvd writer drive which stopped working completely. When i have windows xp installed, windows was able to recognize it but the drive would not read anything, you could hear it working but it wouldnt read anything. I tried back then to upgrade the firmware for it but it didnt work either. Then i thought mabe if i upgrade to windows vista mabe it will work, well im using vista ultimate now and now windows doesnt even see the drive at all. SO i figured i should just take it out and buy a new one but i have no idea of what works with my laptop, if any one can help me find something for my voodoo M570U laptop i would really appreciate it.

I'd get a laptop DVDRW drive from newegg.com or geeks.com. Figure 45 to 99 bucks.

I know these all too well and I could call the shape of the drive an L shape!

And since you pulled the drive, share the MAKE and MODEL so we can NAIL this one out of the ball park.

Replacing DVD writer

I had the same problem with my Toshiba Satellite 2410. The replacement was expensive. I was offered the possibility of a portable DVD drive at a much lower price. Has this worked for anyone else?

The MOST I've paid is 99 bucks.
