I need to get a clear picture of the markings inside a ring.

Hiyaaaa...I just bought my 1st digital camera after using my phone camera. I bought a Fuji Finepix JX 530 and it's a great little camera. What I need to do is photograph the inside stamp markings of some rings and every snap I take they don't come out, show just a blob. Please help and tell me what I am doing wrong or not doing. Remember I am new to all this digital stuff.Thanx in advance Shirlee.

How big is the ring? How big the marks? What distance are photographing from?

Macro

All digital cameras have a macro setting to be used when taking extreme closeups.

You have to put the camera in Macro Mode.
Check your User Manual for instructions.

Then it should focus from about 1 inch to two feet from the lens.

It is advisable to set your camera on a tripod or on a solid surface to keep camera movement to a minimum.
If you are using the flash, you will likely get uneven lighting due to being so close to the subject.
If possible, take the picture outside or use a lamp to provide more light when indoors.
