I have Win XP & Office XP. I would like to locate the file - 'normal.dot' coz I would like to delete it.
I have used - Start/Search, but no luck.
i had no problems with this precedure in prior versions of Win & Office. What am I doing wrong?

Normal.dot is a hidden file

Apparently you did not tell Search to include hidden files and folders.

Bring up Search and select ''all files and folders.'' Type the file name and select the disk(s) to be searched. Now, click on ''More advanced options'' and check the box for ''Search hidden files and folders.'' Also, be sure the box for ''Seach subfolders'' is checked.

You should now find a normal.dot file in the Documents and Settings folder for every user on the system.
