i need startup help

i need startup help for windows xp home edition .... i have an e machines, i cant get into any of the other information about the computer because when i attempt to start my computer i get a black monitor ..... no check signal cable message or anything ..... help im relatively efficient with computers but this one has me stumped

thanks for your help hun .... im soooo lost on this one .... i cant evencreate a boot disk because the laptop i have access to dosent have an a drive for me to create a floppy in lol
