General discussion

I need some help please!

Jun 18, 2007 11:36AM PDT

I have a dell xp pro media center edition 2005 with all updates nessary. It has 512 mb ram (some parts show 501.something)2.80 ghz
80 gig hd divided into 50 and 30 gig's(c & h dr).It has always been pretty fast,it's still not overly slow.I believe I am using up all my ram memory.I was on IE7 and it said that I did not have enough memory to open up a tab.I have cCleaner and run it regurly. My settings are to only keep 35mb's of tempory files and 25 in firefox.I do have some new things like logteck wireless mi3200 and the mouse that came with it.I have 35gigs left on my 50 hd and never used the h hard drive.Something is eating up my memory.Out of the 501. I only had 80 left awhile ago.I got rid of some stuff and got back to 110mbs.There is always 55 or so processes running.Alot of the time they eat up more than what is allowed for them in mem and vir mem(task manager) I need to do something, what?Get rid of stuff? Also I accidently was looking at old prefecth data in cCleaner and forget to uncheck it before I ran the cleaner. Will that hurt anything?I lost the yahoo toolbar after that.I liked it,plus I had lots of bookmarks there.Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks Mark

A Lot of Processes

I'd cut down on some of those, double the amount of RAM, and put the page file on the other unused hard disk.

I never heard of moving page file to the backup partion of the hard drive. Its a 80gig hd my pc has hyperthreadind and is raid configured I think.I'm not sure,I thought that is what it means when they cut up the hard drive at dell.
