I have a brand new computer and it come with all the hp software that for dvd's However, when I download p2p's from the web. they are usually in avi or mpg foremate. after I burn them I cant play them on a regular DVD player I need to be able to play them in a standard DVD player. what software do I need??? I not worry about no one coming down on me for downloading on the web. I my own man. I just need so tec help

You're laptop does have the right software. Just import the videos into the dvd writer program, such as showbiz.
Just make sure you have the codecs required.
(If you can watch and hear the videos, you have the codecs)
P.S. Format, not formateing.
You need a DVD authoring program to convert the files into DVD "FORMAT".
You CANNOT "FORMAT" a DVD+R or DVD-R, only DVD+RW and DVD-RW.
