Hi,
First thing I would do is download any of this program:
1. Mailwasher - http://www.mailwasher.net
2. ePrompter - http://www.eprompter.com
Use any of the above program to retrieve your emails. While you are viewing the emails (in text), you can delete the unwanted emails from the server. You don't have to download the emails to your Outlook Express email program. After deleting the unwanted emails, get the good emails using Outlook Express.
Next is configure your Outlook Express to read all emails in plain text.
OE>Tools>Options>Read tab> check the box before "Read all messages in plain text"
Doing the above will not allow the HTML emails that is maybe calling home to confirm that your email account is active.
Disable preview pane also and do not click anything on the phished and spam messages.
I'm not really sure if I have an infection or not.
My e-mail account can qualify for the phishing site of the new year. I must get at least 20-25 phishing expositions a day w/ attachments. My current protection is ez armor and ad aware. Fortunately, the files all go into a sep folder, but it still have to go through everything. During Christmas, from Dec 23-Jan 3, didn't get a thing. Now, its like they/it are making up for lost time. Can this be an infection, or a very sick individual that takes time out for a vacation...and how can I stop it. As of 11/21/05, I have gotten 1,851 phishing e-mails... PLEASE, SOMEBODY HELP!!!!! I'm running XPsp2 and Outlook express.
