I need help, I got a second hand camcorder with no hardware!

by mbadeaux / December 27, 2007 5:16 AM PST

I have a second hand Sony Handycam video Hi8 CCD-TRV138 NTSC. I did not get any hardware to hook it up to my computer or any software. A loved one has just died and I wanted to make a video of her for my family. Can anyone help. I don't think it makes a difference but my computer is a HP PAvillion a1113w running Windows XP Home Edition. Thanks for your time.

Perhaps having the manual would help, too?

Since it looks like your camcorder does not have a DV (iLink) port, you can only transfer to computer via analog, monaural, AV port. The cable is at the bottom of page 11. Step 1 is get the cable - from Sony.

Since your computer probably does not have analog AV in, you will need to get an analog/digital bridge.

I will venture to guess you have only USB on your computer and no Firewire port... this can use USB:

Generally speaking, however, video transfer works best over firewire and adding a port may be easy (and cheap). If so, or if you already have a firewire port, then
would be a useful choice.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
