I need help finding the right camera for my needs

Nov 30, 2004 10:59AM PST

I am a college student on a budget looking for a camera simplly to take snapshots of me and my friends at parties and such. It needs to be small, hopefully small enought to fit in my pocket (so I dont lose it). Most of the pictures I will be taking will be in low lighting so it needs to be good in the dark. I also want video and sound is nice. I am looking in the $150 range but I am willing to spend up to $200. Is there a camera out there for me? Let me know if you can help me out at all and point me in the right direction.

If you are looking for a point-and-shoot type camera, take a look at the Nikon 3200. $176 at newegg.com

For a camera with some manual controls too, look at the Cannon A75. $199 at Staples with 128mb compact flash card - this week only.

My college aged son purchased a Canon Powershot A75 through Ebay and has been very pleased with it. It has an 3x optical zoom as well as 3x digital. I purchased the A300 and it has all digital zoom. I quickly found that I wanted something lots spendier.

Happy photographing!!
