I lived through the days of 4 thousand buck laptops so getting an 1,000 cycle battery, unibody frame laptop from Apple for near 1.1K is amazing to me.
If you want long battery time be sure you are willing to PAY FOR IT! The common battery is rated at 300 cycles so daily use means you pay for a new battery every 1 to 2 years. Some don't understand this till after they used the battery and paid hundreds for the new battery and finally they learn to keep it on AC when possible.
Nod to the Acer TimelineX series for long battery times.

I am looking for a laptop for school and it's becoming more than
difficult to find one that fits me(and I am not extremely tech savvy) With the endless list of
name-brands, and bias I don't know how, or where to start. I want a
laptop with amazing battery life, fast, and a decent size (but not too big
since I'm lugging it around campus) I need something durable.
and I know I would LOVE something like a MAC or SONY but am I just paying for the name, or are these actually top quality?
I would be amazing if you guys could point me in the right direction
