I need help figuring out what is wrong with my computer.

by tomboydrummer / June 12, 2009 12:42 PM PDT

I have an HP Pavilion a1600n. I think my hard drive might be messed up but I'm not sure. A few months ago my computer crashed. Took it to a computer place and they got it back up. Ever since then though my computer will not let me download anything onto it at all and it now wont recognize my speakers. I even tried reinstalling them because they came standard with the computer but that did not work. Any ideas as to what is going on?

When you tell us . . .

the make and model of the computer, the operating system, any error messages (exact working), we'll give it a shot. Read the red note above where you answer.

Reinstalled the speakers or the audio driver? On board sound or sound card?

my computer is running windows XP. Here is a message I got when I tried to download ITUNES....Module C:\ipodupdaterExt.dll failed to register HRESULT-2147024769. My computer also wont let me download anything off of a CD. I dont have an install disk for my speakers so how do I reinstall them????

What I don't get
by Jimmy Greystone / June 12, 2009 10:58 PM PDT

What I don't get, is why you didn't immediately take the system back to the repair shop and get them to fix whatever they screwed up. If this happened immediately after you got your system back, then they clearly didn't finish the job.

Tried taking it back but they told me there was nothing they could do.
