I need desperate help - Outlook 2003 Message Rules!!

Sep 25, 2005 11:44PM PDT

Please bare with me, this may be a little long but I seriously, seriously need the help. Thanks.

Okay heres the deal...

I signed up to yahoo mail (which also enables pop access) and I applied my mail settings to Outlook ? entering the incoming/outgoing mail servers, mail name, password and the rest correctly and added my account. I then created a new message and saved it (this is the mail that I want to send as auto-respond to the specific inbox mails I receive), then I closed the window after it was saved. Then I went to message/rules and clicked on the condition were it says ?look for specific words in the subject?. I entered the condition as ?immediate payment received? (this is for eBay by the way). For the second condition, I clicked on ?reply to message? and opened up the saved mail message I created. I made sure everything was done, including giving the rule a name. I then clicked on ?apply now? and closed the window. Then I went to accounts/options and clicked on check mail every 2 MINS. I saved and applied everything and closed outlook.

Now here is the extremely frustrating part. I have done this like 7,8 times but nothing happens. I logged into my other email account (which is hotmail) and checked to see if the auto-responder was working. In the subject box I entered ?immediate payment received? and just typed a bunch of nonsense in the body part. I sent it to my yahoo account and waited for 5 mins to see if I had a reply?but NOTHING!!! And I keep trying but it always fails to work. Obviously I am doing something wrong but I?m not sure what? Can someone please, please help me!!?

Re: Outlook problems

I'm afraid I can't help you with this particular problem. All I can do is ask you some questions:
- is the message received?
- can you send e-mails from Outlook via yahoo?
- can you (by way of experiment) create other rules triggering a reply to see if they work, like on sender or 'always' or on size?
- can you (also by way of experiment) create other rules that work (like delete message or move to specific folder)?

And you know, of course, that you need Yahoo Premium service to be able to use Outlook for your pop3-mail?

Hope this helps.
